What is Co-op?
- Coop is a course available to grade 11 & 12 students that integrates classroom learning with practical experience in a workplace.
- Students spend half (2 credit) or full day (4 credits) at a workplace within an industry of their choice.
Placement Opportunities
- Coop teachers, in consultation with the students, select and organize placements according to the students’ strengths and interests.
- Students must be interviewed by the placement supervisor to be accepted for the placement (formality of interview varies depending on employer).
Why Take Co-op?
- It’s never too early to start thinking about what you might want to do as a future career. Co-op is a great opportunity to try something out before you spend money on college and/or university to find out you don’t like it.
- It provides you with “real” experiences for learning, you’re able to make connections within the workplace, and it’s work experience to add to your resume.
