The Donna Corning Memorial Award
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donna Corning on November 6th, 2019
Donna was a teacher and guidance counselor at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School from 1997 to the present. Gifted far beyond the ordinary with the capacity and the creative capability to help and care for others, she left a profound mark on all who knew her. She was beloved by students and staff alike, and her loss to us is incalculable.
To honour her legacy, her family has established the Donna Corning Memorial Award, for which Donna herself set the criteria. This award, to be given annually over the course of ten years, will recognize a graduating student who has shown the courage to reach out and accept help that moves them forward in a positive way. Ideally, this learning would ripple outward and be of benefit to others as well.
