Final Evaluation/Exam Update - Jan 26th

Final Evaluation/Exam Update - Jan 26th
Posted on 01/26/2024

Dear Sir Wil Parents, Guardians, and Students

As you know, due to inclement weather all school buses & school vans were canceled for today Friday, January 26, 2024. All OCDSB schools will be rescheduling our Final Evaluation tasks according to the plan shared by the OCDSB Communications Department earlier today.

For Sir Wilfrid Laurier, final evaluation tasks/exams will be rescheduled as follows:

Period 2 ("B") Exams and Class Tasks will be moved to Monday, January 29 at 8:30 - 11:00 or as communicated by the class teacher.
Period 3 ("C") Exams and Class Tasks will be moved to Tuesday, January 30 at 8:30 -11:00 am
Period 4 ("D") Exams and Class Tasks will be moved to Tuesday, January 30 at 11:45 - 2:15 pm

Barring any other weather related disruptions, regular bus and school van operations are expected for both those days.

Wednesday, January 31 will remain a PD Day
Thursday, February 1 will remain the First Day of Semester 2

We understand that this unexpected change to the final evaluation schedule may be stressful for some students. Students have worked hard all semester long, and now have some additional days to study and prepare for their final evaluations. We recognize that for many students, Tuesday will be an unusually busy time, so some of the longer Grade 11/12 exams will be adjusted in length to ensure students can focus on the most important aspects of their learning. For Grade 9/10 courses, and some senior courses that have performance based tasks (e.g. exit interviews, playing tests, lab tests) teachers may reach out to students to discuss alternative times or remote participation options (where available) to minimize the number of tasks they face on Tuesday. Teachers may email additional details to students in advance of next week. Students are encouraged to check their @ocdsb email or their google classroom for updates and to reach out to their teachers if there are any questions.

Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding as we navigate the challenges that this winter's weather has posed.
